(Bloomberg) -- Japan’s top trade negotiator Ryosei Akazawa says he expects to visit the US at least once more before the Trump administration issues an executive order to lower tariffs on Japan.
Japan continues to urge the US to start implementing tariff cuts as agreed in a trade deal reached in late July
He canceled his latest planned US visit at the last minute Thursday as it became clear that more administrative talks were needed with the US
Japanese staff are currently in the US to discuss the matter with their counterparts
NOTE: Akazawa has said that the US agreed to remove the stacking of exisiting tariffs on 15% across-the-board levies and cut tariffs on cars and car parts to 15%; it remains unclear when the cuts will come into effect
