This homebuilding company has dipped 7.9% from its 52-week high of $199.85, reached on Sep. 19, 2024. Shares of DHI have climbed 52.4% over the past three months, substantially outpacing the SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF’s (XHB) 8.8% returns over the same time frame.

In the longer term, DHI has fallen 1.1% over the past 52 weeks, considerably underperforming XHB’s 18.9% uptick over the same time frame. Moreover, on a YTD basis, shares of DHI are up 31.6%, compared to XHB’s 5.4% loss.

To confirm its bearish trend, DHI has been trading above its 200-day moving average since mid-June and has remained over its 50-day moving average since mid-July.

D.R. Horton shares gained over 2% on Sept. 5, rallying alongside other major homebuilders as the continued decline in the 10-year Treasury yield pushed mortgage rates lower and boosted sentiment in the housing sector.

DHI has outpaced its rival, KB Home (KBH), which declined 14.5% over the past 52 weeks and has returned 3.2% on a YTD basis.

The stock has a consensus rating of "Moderate Buy” from the 20 analysts covering it, and it currently trades above its mean price target of $164.33.
