Brokers Suggest Investing in Tutor Perini (TPC): Read This Before Placing a Bet

Major U.S. equities indexes advanced at midday, with the S&P 500 on track to set a record high every day this week, after a slew of strong earnings reports and amid optimism about U.S. trade deals. The Dow and Nasdaq also gained.

Ugg and Hoka maker Deckers Outdoor (DECK) was the best-performing stock in the S&P 500 after the footwear company posted better-than-expected results on soaring international sales.

Newmont (NEM) shares also climbed as higher gold prices helped the gold miner to beat profit and sales forecasts. The company also boosted its share repurchase program.

Tesla (TSLA) shares rose amid reports the electric vehicle maker is looking to extend its robotaxi rollout to San Francisco as soon as this weekend, and Cathie Wood's Ark Invest bought up more shares.

VeriSign (VRSN) shares advanced as the internet domain name registry gave a strong outlook on demand for dot-com and dot-net addresses.

Charter Communications (CHTR) shares tumbled after the internet and cable TV provider said it lost 117,000 broadband subscribers and 80,000 video customers in the second quarter.

Shares of Intel (INTC) slumped after the chipmaker reported a surprise loss, and said it would lay off more workers and cancel projects as it tries to turn around the business.

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMY) shares dropped as the drugmaker’s chief medical officer stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

Oil and gold futures fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was little changed. The U.S. dollar was up on the euro, pound, and yen. Prices for most major cryptocurrencies were lower.
