Popular miner predicts Bitcoin hitting $200K before bull run ends

Bitcoin may be trading below its all-time highs, but one top mining executive is still shooting for the moon.

Jeff LaBerge, head of capital markets at Bitdeer, says he believes Bitcoin could surge as high as $200,000 before the current bull market tops out.

“There is a lot of room to run here still,” he said in an interview with TheStreet Roundtable striking a notably bullish tone even as some market watchers turn cautious.

Of course, he’s the first to admit how tricky predictions can be.

“Trying to predict Bitcoin prices is kind of a fool’s errand,” LaBerge acknowledged but that hasn’t stopped him from laying out the case for further upside.

He cited increasing institutional participation, expanding use cases, and Bitcoin’s growing status as a long-term asset as major tailwinds.

“If we can kind of break that cycle and become more of a traditional digital gold asset, we may not see that again,” he added. “There is a lot of room to run here still.\\"

At press time, Bitcoin was sitting at $115,395, according to Kraken’s feed — down 6% from its all-time high of $122,838.

Bitdeer Technologies Group is a Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining firm headquartered in Singapore. It was spun out from Bitmain in 2020 and is chaired by crypto billionaire Jihan Wu. The company operates large-scale mining data centers across the U.S., Norway, and Asia.

LaBerge’s thesis goes beyond the top of this cycle. He’s also watching what happens after — when the inevitable bear market kicks in. Historically, Bitcoin has followed sharp rallies with equally brutal corrections, sometimes falling over 70% from its highs.

But LaBerge thinks the market could be maturing. If Bitcoin truly evolves into a “digital gold” type of asset, future downturns may not look like the violent crashes of the past.

Whether Bitcoin hits $150K, $200K, or lands somewhere in between, LaBerge believes the bigger story will be what comes next. “The most important signal,” he said, “will be how the market behaves afterward.”
